Offers for Students and Universities
Successful project management is very often underestimated. Why do many projects fail even though highly qualified experts are working on them? Project management is a discipline of its own, developed over many years of experience. Qualified project managers can make a decisive difference. It is against this background that the Project Management Institute was founded 50 years ago in the USA. In the meantime, the organization is recognized and successful worldwide.
The PMI awards project management certifications and offers courses for interested parties, both with and without professional experience. In addition, Germany already has its own bachelor and master courses for project management in the university sector. Project management lectures and project-based teaching are often integrated into subject-specific courses of study. Many universities offer general project management courses as part of their studies and promote project management qualifications for teachers. The PMI also has accreditation programs for corresponding offers.
The German PMI chapters provide support
- in finding courses of study in project management in curriculum development for the recognition of study courses by PMI
- for membership discounts for students
- in helping to shape career paths through certification, advice, access to job exchanges
- in networking in the field of project management throughout Germany and beyond
In addition to the international PMI Academic Outreach Program, the academic program of PMI Southern Germany chapter (short: ACAD Team) owns the task of providing necessary information to researchers. Its vision is to develop project management as an interdisciplinary specialty and to increase the number of PM curricula and certifications. Current activities include networking with technical colleges, expanding collaboration, and conducting joint initiatives and events.
